Vessel Removal

What Causes Broken Blood Vessels?

We all have blood vessels. Sometimes, however, these blood vessels can burst or rupture. When blood vessels burst, you can often see red lines on your skin. These red lines can happen anywhere on your body, but people are often most self-conscious when these burst blood vessels happen on their faces. The most common causes of ruptured blood vessels are:

  • Pregnancy and childbirth
  • Birth control
  • Excessive sun exposure
  • Older age

Fortunately, There is Vessel Treatment

Dermatologists, including the team at BHSkin Dermatology, are the doctors to visit if you are interested in blood vessel treatment. There are numerous ways to remove burst blood vessels, but the most effective treatment is to use laser therapy. The laser therapy is directed at the burst blood vessel and the laser absorbs the excess red blood cells that have been released under the skin. The therapy is so effective that only one laser therapy session is needed to resolve the problem. And, even better, the therapy is generally painless and has minimal side effects.

Before Vessel Removal

Before undergoing vessel removal, you’ll first have a consultation with your BHSkin Dermatologist. Your dermatologist will talk to you about the symptoms that you are experiencing, your skincare goals, and possible vessel treatment options. If you have spider veins or varicose veins, then your dermatologist may recommend the VBeam laser. However, it’s not uncommon for us to use the intense pulsed light either. Before leaving your consultation, you’ll know which vessel treatment we’ll do for you.

During Vessel Removal

During your appointment, we’ll direct the laser beam at the area of the body you’re experiencing these red lines. You might feel a slight burning or tingling sensation during the procedure. However, this should be minimal. If you do experience discomfort, just let your dermatologist know so we can give you some topical anesthetic.

After Vessel Treatment

The side effects related to laser vessel removal are minimal. The most common side effects are some minimal discoloration or redness around the site where the laser treatment happened. If you experience more serious symptoms or side effects, let your dermatologist know.
