Have you checked your moles lately? The best way to stop a skin cancer is to catch it early, and that advice is especially true for treating and surviving melanoma. Monthly self skin exams are essential. A good rule of thumb is “Round and Brown”. Make sure that all of your moles are “round and brown” with perfect circular edges, regular and same brown color throughout, and mirror-like symmetry (if you had to “cut” the mole in half, each half would look identical). ANY new or changing moles must be viewed extra carefully as this likely indicates a very suspicious mole and should be brought to your dermatologist’s attention immediately. For more helpful screening tips, schedule an appointment and we’d be happy to guide you through it all! Have a great September!
