Advances in cosmetic dermatology are allowing doctors to turn back the clock effectively, in a short office visit with only minimal downtime. These new procedures often cost less than traditional antiaging procedures, and they are more effective with less downtime. The Palomar Starlux, VBeam, and Fractional Erbium/CO2 are devices that are allow dermatologists to help patients look better in a shorter period of time. These procedures are performed in a simple office visit, and no surgery is required!

VBeam Laser

At BHSkin, we often recommend the VBeam laser for treatment of photoaging. VBeam is a pulsed dye laser, which means dye is used to generate different a specific laser wavelength. This laser is well known as a vascular laser, because it targets hemoglobin, a red protein in the blood, and minimizes damage to surrounding is frequently used to treat dilated blood vessels in patients with rosacea

The VBeam laser is useful for treatment of many types of vascular lesions, including spider veins and broken blood vessels on the face. You might be a good candidate for treatment with a VBeam laser if you have redness caused by dilated blood vessels on areas of your face, typically the nose and cheeks. If you have sun damage on your neck and chest, scars, stubborn warts, or angiomas (small clumps of blood vessels) the VBeam laser may be a good choice for your treatment. You will have some redness and swelling for hours to a few days after your treatment, and you may have some bruising if large blood vessels are treated, but you can experience up to a 75% improvement in the appearance of rosacea after just three to five sessions.

Palomar Starlux 500 Intense Pulsed Light Therapy Photofacial

Intense pulsed light therapy photofacials are a series of treatment with an intense pulsed light laser for rejuvenation of sun-damaged or aging skin. This is a non-ablative procedure that improves skin tone and texture without burning the skin. It is a good alternative to microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or other laser resurfacing treatments, and produces a more effective result than microdermabrasion and peels. Laser resurfacing treatment require extended downtime, but with IPL photofacial, you can return to your normal activities immediately. You may experience some redness or swelling, but it will resolve within a day in most patients. At BHSkin, we use the Palomar Starlux 500 laser pulsed light system, which provides one of the most versatile and effective treatments available.

Cortex Erbium/CO2 Fractional Laser

The Cortex CO2 and ER:YAG Laser allow us to efficiently perform both deep laser skin resurfacing and superficial resurfacing in one treatment, using this uniquely convenient system. The Cortex system provides ablative laser treatments using the CO2 fractional laser that works deep beneath the skin’s surface to treat moderate lines and wrinkles, acne scars, skin texture abnormalities, and benign pigmented lesions or discoloration. The Erbium YAG wavelength offers us the ability to resurface the skin surface, perform a micro-laser peel, and erase fine lines and wrinkles. Cortex®combines fractional CO2 laser technology, producing deep rejuvenation and collagen stimulation with a shorter downtime compared to older CO2 ablative laser technology, with the ER:YAG laser, which allows us to offer you full superficial skin surface ablation tailored during the procedure to your skin rejuvenation needs. Use of the superficial Er:YAG laser for surface ablation will help the duration of healing, swelling, and itching typically experienced with a CO2 laser treatment. The availability of multiple wavelengths in one system allows us to create a customized treatment plan that will meet all of your skin resurfacing and rejuvenation needs in one procedure. In addition to treatment of wrinkles and acne scarring, the Cortex® laser system can also be used for blepharoplasty.
